I started teaching Sunday School when I was in Junior High. I taught a little boy in my class how to read and it was the most rewarding experience I have ever encountered. As aforementioned, throughout high school, I began tutoring students in Math, English, Spanish, Science, and History. I tutored one 6th grade student who was ADHD. Beyond the subject matter and what I will be teaching, I have to spend some time getting to know the child. If I do not take the time to make them feel important and show that they have value, then the teaching part is meaningless. A relationship has to be established not only between a teacher and a student but, between two human beings. I like creating a safe environment where students feel comfortable enough to ask the most basic questions and ask for help on challenging problems. My job is to encourage, support and cheer on their efforts in the learning process. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Chemisty with a minor in statistics. As an undergraduate, I tutored middle-schoolers in science and math as a volunteer at a local school.
