I recently graduated from U.C. Berkeley, where I earned a BA in Philosophy with a minor in English literature. For three years I worked as a freelance tutor. I honed my skills tutoring essay writing, English, U.S. History, basic economics, and Algebra 1 and 2.  I have also tutored for several AP courses, all of which I personally received a score of '5': AP English,  AP Art History, AP European History, and AP U.S. History. A Little Bit About Me...

The Socratic method of asking questions is far superior to lecturing. Each student has a unique way of acquiring knowledge, and my job is to find that uniqueness and develop it to the fullest potential. Making a study plan and breaking information down into its smallest units is a good way to encourage mastery. I also look at a failure as a positive point and a way to encourage critical thinking. Success is often gained through studying prior errors. Education is a two way street and I learn just as much from the students as they learn from me.
Trained as a classroom teacher in California, I've worked as a classroom teacher, as a roving creative arts multi-school teacher, and as a tutor. I specialize in literature, world and American history, English, research and writing, and in creating an individualized program for study skills.

A Little Bit About Me...

During my years at Gannon University, I tutored for the state-funded CAAP program. I tutored college students in English Composition, French, Spanish, Theology, Philosophy. I also had the opportunity to tutor an elementary student in Math, English, Science and Theology for 2 years. I have a BA in Philosophy and Psychology with minors in French and Political Science from this university and had wished to pursue the BA in French from the University of Arizona but leadership opportunities arose at work, limiting my ability to take full-time classes. I am well versed in APA format as I have had to utilize this format for my Psychology coursework.
