Having spent a lifetime in the business world, I have a more practical, down to earth, hands on approach to learning. Learning by doing is a Boy Scout approach to learning. As a Boy Scout Leader for many years, I recognized this teaching method, because this is how I learn. Math has always been an achievement of mine. I went to school and started out for an engineering degree, completing all the math including hard calculus. When I got to the university level I thought a business degree would be better as it is used in all types of businesses. So on top of taking hard calc, I took business calc, accounting, finance, and economics classes which all focus on math. I have no real teaching style as I have never really taught anyone. I have always helped friends out while we were in school together and I would just have to figure out at what level of knowledge they were having a hard time understanding and start to help them understand what was going on from that point on.

I am a very understanding and considerate person and my teaching style reflects that. I have been counseling a week-long church camp in southern California for the past 5 years now and I absolutely love doing it. The ages are 9-12 and I look forward to it every year. I have also worked with older children when I worked at the Boy's and Girl's Club. I definitely believe a successful tutor can really change the life of a young adult by stressing the importance of education. Sometimes all it takes is hearing it from a different person in a different perspective. I am a recent graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno. I spent 3 years subsituting in the Sacramento USD system while I went to school for my credentials. I then taught in a pull-out RSP program in 4th and 5th grade ,1/2 time and a high school push-out RSP program the rest of the day. I have also taught 3rd grade. In the past I spent 3 years teaching driving and I have been a sales trainer. I home-schooled my daughter, and she is in college now with a 3.oo gpa.
