I have recently graduated from Sun Prairie High School with a 3.95 and will be attending the University of Madison next year. I have taken Advanced Placement English this year and have recieved superior grades in that class. During the last 2 years I have tutored regular and special education students in English and Math I love teaching and working with all children. I believe all children have the capacity to learn if they are taught in a safe environment with a teacher that is willing to connect individually with the student. Throughout college, I consistently worked as a tutor or mentor, specifically with minority populations. Upon graduation, I joined Teach for America and taught high school English in rural North Carolina. Since my tenure in TFA, I have taught English to students in Mexico, substitue taught for 2 years at a Waldorf school in La Crosse, WI, and currently tutor and mentor students as I attend graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Cumulatively, including extended substitute teaching situations, I have taught all grade levels 1-12 in various subjects. I would describe my teaching style as ecclectic. By this I mean that I discern which style or strategy would best accomdodate the needs of the particular child, based on their learning style.
