I recently graduated from the University of Texas double majoring in History and Biology. I have worked as a biology teacher for a freshman year biology course. My specialty was marine biology, and I have lots of experience in field and laboratory research, which has influenced my love for science. History started as a hobby and turned into a passion of mine. My teaching style is very energetic and I love participation by the students. I think students can learn better through experiencing the information rather than just hearing it.

I got my Marine Biology degree in 2004 from TAMUG. We did a lot of research out in the field mostly right off the island. Over the years we collected, observed ,researched , and collected data for our scientific research papers that a lot of courses demanded. Being out in the field was the best part. Vertebrae Zoology was my track, but I specialized in cetacean behavior.

I have experience tutoring former classmates and some clients. I find that because of class sizes and lack of time, some students are not getting the proper instruction needed to succeed. The way public schools are set up they focus on excelency on state tests, and don't build up on needed stepping stones for the next years levels. I have succesfully tutored in Pre-Cal, Calculous, Algebra, Marine Biology, FAA Private Pilot written exam, Spanish, English, etc.

Biology and the life sciences are as interesting to me now as when I was in the fifth grade. My education is in microbiology which I have applied in the agrigricultural industry, diabetes research, and pharmaceutical diagnostics. I typically employ the Socratic method: asking questions to discover what the student knows (or thinks he knows) and guiding his thinking toward discovering the knowledge himself. Both my three children and my Scouts have declared that they enjoy my teaching because it engages their interest and because it is frequently humorous (when the subject and the occasions permits). I really enjoy the company and conversation of young adults and find I often learn from them as they are learning from me.
