I believe that students can reach their potential if they are given the tools that they need. My job is to be the toolbox for them. I believe that a child should be given a vast amount of positive reinforcement and always be spoken to and taught with respect. I use an easy manner in my tutoring and use my sense of humor to build rapport with children. I strive to make learning fun and interactive. I do not just hand out worksheets and require reading. I am a hands on tutor. I also help children understand the concepts behind the learning, rather than rote memorization of material. I enjoy teaching and helping all children. I am a strong believer that all children can be taught all subjects, and should be given the opportunity to do just that. I am always willing to teach the child, in the best way that will help them, whether this be through explanation, or through a hands on approach. Children are our future, and should be given the opportunities to learn.
Throughout my life, I have always felt very strong about achieving a high level of education. As a older sibling to a child that had a learning disability, I felt it was my responsiblity to help him achieve a high school diploma. From the age of six years old to his senior year in high school, I tutored my brother in all subjects, from math and english to electives.
