I started tutoring students middle and high school prior to graduating college. I have taught part-time college students at various institutions since 1996. I also have worked as an independent tutor part-time. I have more than 30 years of experience teaching as a one-on-one tutor and as a college instructor. My comments on tutoring Chess : Chess skill comes from much experience in both winning and losing games (obviously). Yet there ARE winning principles that are not generally known. I have been a counselor in the public schools for the past 16 years, both at the elementary and high school levels. I have tutored students in many subjects; ranging from 3rd grade math to advanced algebra to US History.
I am able to diagnose weak points in the student's knowledge and remedy those weak points so that the student is better able to have a full understanding of the content. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always found that the best teachers are the ones who are able to explain the same concept in a variety of ways, so this is what I seek to do when teaching. I also attempt to not only teach a student how to do a problem, but also to gain a "big picture" view of the concept being taught; i.e., I want the student to be able to not only apply the concept to problems of the same type that he/she does in homework, but also to related problems that he/she might not have previously seen.
