I started tutoring students middle and high school prior to graduating college. I have taught part-time college students at various institutions since 1996. My comments on tutoring Chess : Chess skill comes from much experience in both winning and losing games (obviously). Yet there ARE winning principles that are not generally known. I have been tutoring since I was 13 years old. Parents of my peers always approached me to teach their son or daughter. After I completed high school with a 4.0 GPA I was hired at a professional tutoring school. There I worked for nearly 10 years with a loyal student base many of whom I taught the entire time. I taught kids from when they were in elementary school all the way until high school. Some students were ineligible to go to normal school so I was their only teacher for years. I have always found that the best teachers are the ones who are able to explain the same concept in a variety of ways, so this is what I seek to do when teaching.
