A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from the University of South Alabama with a degree in Elementary Education grades K-6. While in school I worked at Sylvan Learning Centers to earn a little extra money. I have taught Kindergarten for 3 years. All of my students were successful.
All children can learn, but in different ways. As a teacher I had to figure out the various ways that my students learned and incorporated that into my lessons. I did a lot of small group teaching and hands on activities. I always did whatever I needed to do in order for my children to be successful.

I have tutored elementary students during my tenure in the Air Force on a volunterr basis. I worked as a Introduction to Computers instructor at Keiser College for two semesters. I have a fascination with math and numbers. My extensive experience with budgeting and using spreadsheets and formulas has kept me fresh with my math skills. I recently tutored a 50+ adult to take a math skills test for the CRC. He passed, and was had such a sense of accomplishment, after almost giving up hope that he could pass it.
I love to learn, and love passing that on to others. I am a patient personality, and I may present a problem to a student to evaluate where they are. From there, we can go either backwards or to more advanced work. In Teaching students of all races and nationalities over the past 28 years the rewards have been fantastic. Teaching History for 21 years, Special Education, Severe Profound, and GED. My track record has been excellant. I feel that all students can learn. In public education today I feel students are more than just test scores. Each student is an individual with individual needs with different modes of learning. Parental help is critical. To achieve the objective the instructer must gain the trust and respect of the students and thier parents. In order to be a good teacher you have to love the students and exspect the best out of each.
