I love working with children. I have helped with pre-K and grade school children with an emphasis on working with Autistic children. All children can succeed in school given the right tools; just because they do not get the idea from one method does not mean that they won't get it from a different method. I think that all children can learn regardless of age, learning ability or other status, if given a chance. I spent two years teaching and tutoring Autistic children. I aided in routine skills, verbal skills and dealing with change. I have worked with two different children on these skills. Although I have earned my degree, BS in Psychology, my previous education includes 2 years at St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico and 2 years of Engineering at Oregon State University. The years at St. John's have given me the unusual ability to tutor students in Ancient Greek. They laid a foundation in Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Calculus which the years of Engineering built up further. At the high school and college level I am also currently able to tutor Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy, Psychology and Anthropology. I have a Masters degree in anthropology (with minors in zoology and philosophy) and a Bachelors degree in zoology (with a chemistry minor) from Oregon State University. I have tutored high school students in math, science, reading, and writing for the Upward Bound program, was a teaching assistant in college biology laboratory and biological anthropology courses at OSU, and later a teacher of bioanthropology at Klamath Community College, OSU (online and on campus) and Western Oregon University. I was laid off in December 2009 due to budget cuts, but continue to present lectures and write scientific literature. I also home school my daughter in reading, writing, mathematics, and natural science. I am very passionate about teaching at every age level (e.g. my daughter is 7).
