I am a recently retired teacher. I have taught at all levels preK through high school and with diverse populations, including overseas. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a voracious love of learning. Every subject in the Humanities held a fascination for me, and to this day, I read two books a week, write, draw, and study educational Psychology. years after my graduation, i earned my Secondary Teacher of English License at Edgewood College. My finance and I moved to Saint Louis, where I was recruited to teach "at risk" Secondary English, ESL, and Reading for the Los Angeles Unified School District. I also worked with them as a Drug IMPACT II Counselor, and gained real insight into Alternative Education. During this time, I tutored several students with Reading Comprehension difficulties. I have sons ages 17 and 20, and continually took an active role in fostering their education. I like teaching through differentiation methods. As a SPS member while attending UW-Whitewater I gave tutoring lessons to physics students who needed help i not only physics but also mathematics. I am able to communicate ideas well to others and help the understanding through an easy process. I understand every person learns in different manners. Therefor, I have learned how to teach some students by use of examples and others by basic understanding and concepts of the idea. I encourage the thought process of the individual student so that they can learn their own ideas and therefor learn how to use these ideas on exams and future applications.
