Experience Summary
I am a graduate of Brigham Young University with a BA in English. Psychology and child development were part of my curriculum. When our children were all in school, I started substitute teaching K-12. I especially enjoyed working with K-5. I have worked as a substitute, permanent substitute and teaching assistant for about 13 years in the Concord School District (NH) and the Provo School District (UT). Some assignments were a few months long while teachers were recovering from surgery or illness. I had the opportunity to attend seminars on "Autism" and "Image Writing". During the last 13 years, I have been in many different classrooms, taught varied subjects and dealt with all kinds of students and behaviors. I am also fluent in the French language.
Teaching Style
I believe that learning can and should be fun so that students will want to continue learning throughout their life. It is fun to come up with innovative ways to help students remember and learn material. With patience and kindness, I strive to help them make the most of their abilities and talents. Seeing students achieve their goals brings me much joy and satisfaction.
