I like to be interactive- when I'm teaching I prefer to work through a problem with a student together the first time, letting the student more or less watch me. The second time through, we approach the problem with a little more weight placed on the student. The third time I ask the student to attempt the problem on his/her own, and I'm available for questions.

I have been tutoring since high school. When I was in high school, I tutored my brother in elementary level math. When I was in college, I tutored students in chemistry and math. I have a bachelor's degree in chemistry and have also had numerous math courses. I can tutor in any math subject up to calculus 2 and up to any undergraduate chemistry course.
I find that the best way to tutor my students is to find out what they are struggling with the most in a subject and then helping them with the basics in that subject. A Chinese proverb states tell me and I'll forget, teach me and I'll remember, involve me and I'll learn. My goal is to involve students in their learning. In my classroom I have a variety of learning centers where students practice the skills that they have learned. Centers are designed for multiple learning levels and interests.
I have taught kindergarten for one year and pre-kindergarten for two years.
