I love teaching phonics! There are so many activities that you can do with children to help them learn letter sounds. One year when teaching kindergarten I made an alphabet cookbook with my students! I have over 25 years teaching in an elementary school. I have worked extensively with children who fall below grade level or need extra help. I use games and manipulative when working with students. I encourage them to do their best and reward them for a job well done. I also involve the parent, leting them know each time what was done and where we are headed.
