A Little Bit About Me...

I love helping children learn in a way that's fun and supportive. I strongly engage my students in the process by asking questions and balancing the different learning styles (auditory, written, verbal, physical). I can bring structure and focus to students' learning path in a compassionate and safe environment, and help them gain confidence and be successful.
I have always enjoyed helping people learn, from dancing and sailing in my youth, to English and French more recently. For two years I was a tutor at a resource center at a city college, where I helped students on a one on one basis with reading and writing skills. I have tutored privately a number of clients in French, and I currently teach a French class at an after care program.

Teaching is one of passions as I am always interested in learning. I feel that the quality of the knowledge obtained rests without doubt in the ambitions the student possesses challenging the teacher to present his best. I have taught and cared after juveniles up to 14 years old, girls, boys, chalenged and all. Planning, daycare and one on one instruction were all on the agenda which helped sharpen my teaching skills
As ambitious a student in the classroom as in life I have completed over 180 college credits at age 24. With a preference in sciences most of these credits were completed however my interest expands far beyond the realm into most every subject. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated with an AA Degree in Liberal Studies from Allan Hancock Community College. I then transferred to San Francisco State University where I earned my BA Degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Sociology. Upon graduation, I began working as a Substitute Teacher for grades K-8 in Santa Maria, CA. During this time, I was responsible for teaching many subjects including English, math, music, history and physical education. I also conducted many small group tutoring sessions.
I have taught and tutored hundreds of children while substitute teaching. I have found that my style is one which tries to involve the student in the learning process as much as possible.
