I graduated with an AA Degree in Liberal Studies from Allan Hancock Community College. I then transferred to San Francisco State University where I earned my BA Degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Sociology. Upon graduation, I began working as a Substitute Teacher for grades K-8 in Santa Maria, CA. As ambitious a student in the classroom as in life I have completed over 180 college credits at age 24. With a preference in sciences most of these credits were completed however my interest expands far beyond the realm into most every subject. Proof of this is shown by the length of my undergraduate work, six years with enlightening pauses in between to broaden my mind through travel. Biology is my strong suit however math such as physics, calculus and even chemistry are heavily influenced in the major. At San Diego state I have completed the majority of these subject units. I am a creative, patient teacher. I know that everyone learns differently, so I try to come up with many different ways to explain a concept. I love to see the sudden understanding in a student's eyes when they finally understand a difficult concept. This is what makes teaching an addictive and highly fulfilling activity for me.
During my undergraduate years, I often found myself tutoring fellow students. Eventually I got a job working for the math and science tutoring center on campus. I tutored students in my own classes and others, and I also helped teach a vertebrate anatomy lab. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that when students develop a certain level of self confidence, learning comes easier. I place great importance on a student's learning style. While at the California Science Center, where I worked as a science exhibit developer for six years, I learned the value of a constructivist approach to learning. I am not fixed on one approach to tutoring; I determine how a child learns and try to present the material in a variety of ways until the child "gets it."
For the past five years I have been a substitute teacher for the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District.
