In my experience I have found that it is always better to not only provide the didactic, but with it there must also be an ability for the student to relate personally. As it relates to methods of instruction, I have always utilized the three step method of: 1) See one, 2) Do one, and 3) Teach one. This is also akin to crawl, walk, and run method. There must always be a teacher student means of communication that is functional and effective.

I have been working with children from K-12 grade since 2001. I was part of the Math Academy in 2002. I have been subsituting in grades K-8 since 2009. I am fluent in the Spanish and I have experience working with migrant as well as with English Learner students. I worked with EL students for 3 years. I have also had the chance to work with special needs children.
I enjoy working with children. My theory of teaching is using the multiple intelligence theory. I believe that all children have the capacity to learn but in their own way. I strive to include various learning styles when working with children. Some students learn best by listening or writing, while others need movement or tactile experiences to help in comprehension. I believe in keeping students engaged at all times, to minimize wasted time. Every child has potential. A teacher just has to know how to reach each child, and that happens when the students builds trust with the teacher.
I have taught music in public education for the last 15 years. I have been involved in church music ministry for over 25 years, and currently am the church pianist in Stockton, Ca. I love working with children of all ages. Math is my second love and I almost majored in math instead of music. Math was always easy for me in school. I volunteered my services as an IT Consultant to DSBI (Dream it, See it, Be it) Academic Achievement Services/ City of Modesto to assist the impoverished locals get needed education. My work included tutoring staff and students in basic math, science and computer education. I also trained staff in maintaining computer software. I have a Bachelor Of Science in Computer Information Systems with a minor in Mathematics.
