A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored my peers throughout high school, and I enjoy sharing my knowledge of mathematics with others. During high school, I scored a perfect score of 800 on both SAT II Math Level 2 and Korean. I am currently attending Normandale with a major in Liberal Arts with Emphasis in Mathematics. I hope to transfer to a 4 year university to double major in economics and mathematics.
I am very patient especially for students who learn slower than others because I was always a slow learner myself. I am very happy to repeat myself or go over other examples to help the student understand the concept. I also like to emphasize concept over memorization. Of course, math has a good amount of memorization, and yes, it is important; however, I believe that learning concept is more useful than sheer memorization, and understanding a concept is better than memorizing formulas and properties.

I believe a successful instructor is the most important part of teaching; one who is knowledgeable, wise, and be able to effectively communicate the knowledge to the students. I believe this can be achieved primarily by knowing the entirety of the subject taught and being able to connect with the students on an individual basis. A Little Bit About Me...

After my training in graduate studies, I have come to believe in heuristics method of teaching. I believe the students are best served when we motivate, encourage and provide an environment so students can begin learning on their own unique style. Instead of showing them how to do it, I plan to first know how would they do it. I want to encourage them to develop their own style of learning while giving constant feedback along the process. I have a positive approach to teaching. I am very patient when I go through the lessons and go back and review any older material if it is needed in order to grasp the current lesson of the day. I work hard to make the content stick and I always enjoy to see that light of realization in their eyes when they grasp the concept I am teaching them.
