Part of the advantage I have as a math tutor in particular is the fact that I failed math miserably in highschool myself. I have only learned what I know because I was bound and determined not to let any subject get the best of me. Unlike many math teachers who naturally understand math, I have the benefit of understanding precisely why students don't understand and the patience to explain a topic as many different ways as possible until the student and I hit on a way that works.

I am very patient especially for students who learn slower than others because I was always a slow learner myself. I am very happy to repeat myself or go over other examples to help the student understand the concept. I also like to emphasize concept over memorization. Of course, math has a good amount of memorization, and yes, it is important; however, I believe that learning concept is more useful than sheer memorization, and understanding a concept is better than memorizing formulas and properties.
I have tutored my peers throughout high school, and I enjoy sharing my knowledge of mathematics with others. I believe a successful instructor is the most important part of teaching; one who is knowledgeable, wise, and be able to effectively communicate the knowledge to the students. I believe this can be achieved primarily by knowing the entirety of the subject taught and being able to connect with the students on an individual basis.
