I enjoy working with children of all ages and am available for all subjects. My focus is teaching through discovery; whether by observation, research, or builiding upon previous knowledge. I believe all children need nurturing in academics and the biggest hurdle many face is self-confidence (or the lack of). After teaching preschool age children for 5 years, I returned to school to pursue a BS in secondary Education with a concentration in political science. I love to bring history to live for students so I like to explain events in a story format. It is important for students to memorize facts, however, so I focus on memorization techniques and organization. Reading requires comprehension so I use a combination of techniques including reading out loud and repetitive reading.
