Experience Summary
I successfully completed a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Social Work and a master’s degree in Public Health with a concentration in Behavioral Science and Health Education. I have tutored previous college classmates and K-12 students in English, Speech, Reading, Writing and Math for the last 4-5 years. When working as a graduate assistant for the University of Florida, I assisted in training undergraduate students in speech, presentation, math and writing skills. Also, for the last three years I have mentored and tutored two tenth grade students in whichever subject they need help in. Although I absolutely love working with kids, I have tutored all ages from elementary thru graduate level students.
Teaching Style
I've been told that I have a unique style of teaching. I like to teach using rhymes, antonyms, and relating the subject to familiar life situations. My experience with this style of teaching seems to help students retain information better while simultaneously enjoying the process. I try to incorporate fun into the learning process and always commend students for achieving their goals. Many times I offer incentives for improving grades or improved test scores/progress reports. I try to make the tutoring process enjoyable for both me and the student, while also making sure the student learns as much as possible in each session.
