I have been a full-time tutor since 2009, and have worked with almost 500 students! I specialize in making concepts clear and meaningful by adapting my tutoring to each student's individual learning style and experiences. I also use many hands-on materials and provide concise notes pages to give students the tools to be able remember and apply the material we have worked on. I tutor in my home, in Palm Harbor (off Tampa Rd., near Belcher), and have converted the front part of my home into a tutoring studio, where I provide a quiet, distraction-free, positive learning environment with many hands-on materials and other resources. Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach. After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years.
