Experience Summary
My teaching career began my senior year of high school. I spent half of my school day interning at Southside Elementary in Sarasota, FL. I helped in a k-5 science lab as well as a general first grade classroom. While interning at the school, I received a volunteer of the year award from the school board for my efforts at Southside. After graduating high school, I became a nanny of three young boys, all under the age of 8 while receiving my associates at the State College of Florida. Once I completed my associates, I moved to Tampa to complete my Bachelor's in Elementary Education. I participated in student teaching in a first grade class, third grade, and an inclusion second grade class which included 4 children with Autism and others with various learning disabilities. I also tutored while going to USF at a foster care in Tampa called Joshua House. They house children from third grade-eighteen years old. Throughout my time at USF, I was part of the SCATT program, for honors education majors. We participated in various teaching workshops, volunteer work, and were able to make connections with community leaders in education.
