A Little Bit About Me...

I am a seasoned adjunct instructor and tutor at the introductory level at a Community College. I have taught a graduate level Chemistry course at a Masters granting College. My education includes a M.S. Polymer Chemistry/Science, B.S. in Biology and 46 Credits of Chemistry . More importantly I have worked as a teaching assistant at a School for Autistic children. Through this experience and others I developed a high level of patient and understanding of the different styles of learning and the broad spectrum of speed for which children master concept.
I am a firm believer that strict memorization does not allow the student to broaden their ability to solve problems of various flavors. A Little Bit About Me...

What I have learned in my tutoring experience is that every individual has their own learning style - thus, I work with those tutored to find what means works best for them, and stress conceptual understanding over rote memorization. Teaching is not unidirectional: indeed, it is one of the best ways to cement for oneself the information being given. My goal is to give anyone whom I tutor, the ability that Einstein found truly valuable: "You do not truly understand something unless you can explain it to your grandmother." A Little Bit About Me...

As a chemist for almost ten years at the labs in Oak Ridge, TN and 12 years of teaching experience in TN and MS, I am highly qualified to tutor chemistry. I haved earned a BS in chemistry as well as a MS in Science Education. During the last 5 years I have tutored Chemistry, Biology, Algebra I and II.
I love the sciences and I love children; so what better way to express that love than to teach and tutor the sciences. I believe that all children are capable of learning. We as teachers and tutors have to discover the methods and techniques that works best for the individual student. I am patient and compassionate about finding the right teaching style fit for each student. I am rewarded most when I see that light bulb light up and the students says, " I get it now".
