I believe it is so important to be a stepping stone for a child. You should be there for them when they start to stumble, but you shouldn't do everything for them. I am an Elementary Education major at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. I have many hours of field experience that I have completed for my education courses. I have helped out with all age groups during my field experience. My father is a teacher and my mother runs a daycare in our home, so I have spent much time teaching children various subjects, along with helping children with their homework.

My teaching style is tailored to the student. If I see an opportunity to improve the student's learning by using a different style, I will take it. Most of my experience comes from substitute teaching. I have been a certified local substitute teacher since September of 2010. I have taught everything from math and science to physical education and music while working as a local substitute teacher. I was able to provide additional service by mentoring individuals who were struggling with material in lessons and assignments. Other professional experience comes from working as a private voice tutor since May of 2010. I have coached many individuals both young and old through voice lessons to establish a core of healthy vocal routines and technique. I like to provide a variety of activities for my tutoring experiences. In my past tutoring experiences for language arts I did everything from flash cards of sight words, to word games, and short stories, to poetry. I also incorporated a lot of nonfiction text within the students interests range because LPS seems to be pushing more and more for students to have more advanced nonfiction skills in order to be successful on the NESA tests given in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. If I were tutoring a subject other then language arts I would use the same approach of incorporating a variety of activities to keep it new and exciting for the student I tutor. I have just completed my bachelors degree in elementary education from the University of Nebraska (Lincoln).
