A Little Bit About Me...

As a UNCP alumnus, I currently hold a BS in Biology. I have tutored peers in the past during my second year at UNCP. Subjects that I am familiar are science and math. I have a lot of experience in the science field. I currently work full-time in a lab using my science degree. I’m eager to work as a tutor and use my experience to help advance someone else’s education.
I have approximately one year of experience of professional teaching working with a grant funded program at UNCP. With this program was very hands-on and interactive with the students. I worked directly with the professors in the science department.

Using varied instructional strategies is a technique I have practiced when working with students who are struggling with a particular concept or subject matter. The key to learning is to be engaged in and excited about the learning process. If a student is struggling with a particular subject, establishing a connection to that subject is essential. By learning about the student and his or her interests, the educator has a better opportunity to engage and excite that student. This engagement and excitement will only lead to academic success.

Although I graduated with a degree in Anthropology, it has always been my career goal to pursue teaching and education and to use my knowledge in Cultural Studies to progress my teaching success. My initial teaching experiences were in working with individuals with mental/developmental disabilities, teaching community behavioral and communication skills.
