I have approximately one year of experience of professional teaching working with a grant funded program at UNCP. With this program was very hands-on and interactive with the students. I worked directly with the professors in the science department.
As a UNCP alumnus, I currently hold a BS in Biology. I have tutored peers in the past during my second year at UNCP. Subjects that I am familiar are science and math. I have a lot of experience in the science field. I currently work full-time in a lab using my science degree. I’m eager to work as a tutor and use my experience to help advance someone else’s education.

A Little Bit About Me...

Over the past six months I have been substitute teaching while pursuing my master's degree in elementary education. I am an avid reader and have experience, though not professional experience, in teaching children to read and write proficiently. I have worked closely with exceptional students in the role of a substitute teacher and believe that if given the opportunity I could thrive as a tutor.
Each individual learns in a different manner. Some students are visual learners, while others are better served by a hands-on environment. Using varied instructional strategies is a technique I have practiced when working with students who are struggling with a particular concept or subject matter. My teaching style can best be described as entertaining, insightful, dedicated, flexible and individually-oriented. I feel that for any individual who chooses to learn something new, the biggest key to their success is motivation and their personal interest in what they are looking to learn. I also recognize that many students (especially young learners) are guided to study various lessons/fields by parents/educators and they need to find what they are being guided to study interesting in some way. I work to create a welcoming rapport with students and then, using my knowledge of the study being taught along with paying close attention to the desires and needs of a student, create a lesson that student finds interesting and therefore become drawn to.
