In my disciplines, the value of understanding totally outweighs rote memorization and learning of “recipes” for solving problems. I am a firm believer that strict memorization does not allow the student to broaden their ability to solve problems of various flavors. I encourage the student to understand the concepts to avoid tedious memorization. Additionally I believe children learn best in an environment where they do not feel intimidated or nervous. I believe by working closely with the student and making learning fun I can help the student avoid becoming discouraged. This helps to prevent the chain reaction of test failures. It also prevents the student from giving up on the subject.

A Little Bit About Me...

While completing my undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering at University of Idaho, I was often called upon to tutor people within the building where I lived during college. I also was employed by the University to grade papers and offer assistance to underclassmen in the Chemical Engineering department. From this experience, I have gained both the knowledge in math and science and the understanding of how to use different approaches with different people to deliver the lesson.
