The vast majority of my experience has been obtained throughout my time in college and my willingness to help fellow students and/or friends in a variety of studies. My studies throughout college primarily consist of the sciences, including chemistry, biology, and physics. My willingness to help others is where my want to tutor stems from.

In my disciplines, the value of understanding totally outweighs rote memorization and learning of “recipes” for solving problems. I believe students understand new concepts in terms of their previous experience and background. I attempt to link previous experience to new experience and promote meaningful learning. I am currently a PhD candidate in Ecology at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Throughout my education and short career I have developed teaching skills through tutoring, teaching labs to middle school students, mentoring high school students and giving informational talks on environmental issues to the public. I enjoy teaching and I feel that I have a gift for explaining science and math to people unexperienced in these subjects.
