A Little Bit About Me...

As a Regent's Scholar at UC Davis, I sought to develop skills in both the sciences and the liberal arts. As such, I earned two bachelors degrees, a BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering with an emphasis in Environmental Engineering, and a BA in Japanese. I have an extensive background in math and science, particularly in physics and chemistry, due to the former. I also have a plethora of experience in writing persuasive essays, technical papers, and research papers. I have always been passionate about receiving and giving the best education. As a graduate of a top-level liberal arts college I was able to hone my skills in English writing and composition. I received a certificate in Elementary Education both in New York and California, and have taught in elementary schools for three years in grades 3, and a 1st/2nd grade combo class, respectively. My teaching style would be that of Guided Discovery. This is a highly interactive style which leads the student to uncover the answer themselves as opposed to the teacher simply reciting the answer to them. Guided Discovery requires the student to learn by doing therefore developing necessary problem solving and deductive skills that will make them better learners and thinkers both now and in the future. I implement this style by asking leading questions, giving examples, making analagies and asking the student what they think or ask them to explain how they came upon a certain conclusion.
