A Little Bit About Me...

When working with children, I try my best to be engaging, interactive, and fun. If necessary, I'll use props (e.g. building blocks) to help illustrate concepts, and I always try to ask many questions along the way to make sure my explanations are clear. With older students I will use a slightly more textbook approach, but keeping lessons interactive still remains essential, and props may still be useful in some circumstances. In both situations, I try to find which learning styles work best for the student and present lessons based on those. Each person has a unique way of learning, and if a teacher takes the time to understand it, then the student's true potential can be reached.

I have always been passionate about receiving and giving the best education. As a graduate of a top-level liberal arts college I was able to hone my skills in English writing and composition. I received a certificate in Elementary Education both in New York and California, and have taught in elementary schools for three years in grades 3, and a 1st/2nd grade combo class, respectively. I also have 2 years of experience substituting in elementary and middle schools, and 1 year of experience tutoring in English, as well as math.
