I lived in Germany for 9 years, moved back to the states in 2010. I attended 7 years of school in Germany, where German was the primary language spoken. In 2011 I became a teachers assistant for my German teacher at Wakefield High School, Raleigh NC. I also went to Wakefield Middle School and taught 20 kids, once a week German, for 3 months.

I've taught students in a variety of environments: as a chemistry lab TA, as a youth fencing coach, and as a private tutor. Learning must be both fun and hard work, until the hard work becomes 'fun'. I have expertise in using the internet well beyond Wikipedia and Answers.com. I have access through the university to a variety of sources not available outside the universty (Elsiver, JStor, ArtStor, etc.) I believe in all sources for encouraging readers: comics, sports bios, the sports page of the NYTimes, magazines from InStyle to the NewYorker. My teaching style is adapted to meet the student’s needs. I firmly believe that each child learns differently. I think students either learn kinesthetically, visually, or auditorally, for the most part. I think it is my job as a teacher to find out which style best suits the student and adapt my style accordingly.
