Ever since I was little I loved helping other people with school. I spent my summer with my aunt teaching English to Spanish speaking natives and my cousins. Even though I can teach well with large groups I have always felt a child learns best one-on-one. It eliminates competition and helps the child develop confidence in himself and the desire to learn. I like to find the area where a child is struggling and come up with a creative fun way that allows them to learn but also the encourages them to continue working on their own when I am not there. I also believe that it is important to involve the family in order to help the child grow. Whether it is working with them or just encouraging their progress. A Little Bit About Me...

While passing the FCAT is obviously one component of improving your child’s skills, this class is focused on going beyond what is expected by the FCAT. I want to encourage creative expression through different styles of writing, and I want them to develop a love for reading, or at least find a few books that they absolutely can’t stop reading. To engage students in the books they are reading, I will incorporate hands-on activities throughout the reading. These activities will help them become active readers, while engaging them in the stories. Each semester, the students will do a book report on a book they must be reading at home, independently of class time. They will have the opportunity to choose their own book for the book report, as long as it is slightly above their reading level.

As a class teacher, I have gained the experience teaching ENglish and Math to young children. I also had multiple parttime tutoring experience, which provided me additional experience teaching students from different backgrounds and age groups. I have also been interested in Math, and am curretly taking an online Math class, which can refresh my memory and allow me to tutor Math efficiently.
I enjoy teaching, espcially to children. I believe that students can learn the best with the best teachers. A good teacher should assess students correctly, so that he/she can provide approiate materials and teaching. According to students' academic progress, teachers should also adjust their lessons to fit students' needs. Through my experience as a teacher and tutor, I've learned that each student has a different threshold for learning, and a different speed at which they can process the information. The trick, of course, is to find the proper impetus and the proper speed for each student, and to nurture and enforce their efforts with positive feedback.
