I make learning relavant to each specific student by getting to know their interests. I also teach using many different modalities as everyone learns differently. I started out my teaching career as a reading specialist for struggling readers in grades 1 through 6. Most of the subjects I have selected I passed with an 85% or better. I also did some tutoring in high school for other students. If I didn't learn it, I am most likely to figure out what is going on. It helps to know before hand what the lesson and subject is, just so I can remember what it is and to be more prepared. I would prefer the library, just because it is big and open. The library in Tooele is a great example. It has rooms that can be used. I would prefer tutoring no more than 10 students at a time. If I can get a copy of the lesson before hand, I can be prepared.

I think all children are driven to learn, and if directed with a little help, everyone can learn how science changes peoples lives. I feel more like a coach and less like a lecturer. If you can make connections between things they know, and the things you are trying to teach them, they will have something to "hang" that new knowledge on!
