I have been a tutor for only a semester now at Black Hawk College in Moline IL. I tutored up to College Algebra. I had two individual appointments and also worked with walk-ins. I have tutored Writing, Reading, accounting and a class about Microsoft Office. My teaching style is to let the student tell me what they need and I continue to help them until they understand it.

I've been a special education teacher and held positions in resource and in self-contained rooms. I've taught students with learning problems in reading, math, and writing. I have also worked in the Lights on for Learning program and have been a home tutor for home bound students in the district. I'm a strong believer in the Gardner's ideas of many different learning styles and types of intelligent. Some students are better audio, tactile, or visual learners. I believe the best way to learn is peer-to-peer learning. As an auto-didact I have the study skills necessary to regurgitate information as taught by the current institutional models.
