Experience Summary
During my undergraduate education I was very dedicated in pursuing my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and completed a variety of experiences working with students. Last fall I worked as a student teacher in third grade. The 17 students in my class had a variety of socio-economic backgrounds, special needs, and multicultural differences which presented many unique challenges. After graduation I was asked to stay on at the school to work as a Positive Action Center (PAC) Facilitator. In this role I was able to work with students kindergarten through sixth grade on their various behavioral issues. After recently moving to the Quad City area I have been working as a para educator in the Davenport Community Public School District.
Teaching Style
Ever since I can remember I have been involved with teaching. I consider myself to be patient, understanding, compassionate, and at times, a role model. I truly believe that every single student is capable of learning and success, sometimes it simply takes a new fresh perspective or a little repetition. I really enjoy helping students to understand concepts and not simply memorizing information. With true knowledge of the subject matter students are more likely to be able to apply what they have learned and remember it much longer. I also believe that successful teaching requires a lot of encouragement and a positive attitude. I want to teach so that I can help others to achieve the best of their ability.
