I have 13 years of experience working with children in the educational and home setting helping to mentor them by providing them with the tools necessary to be academically successful. My first tutoring experience occurred during my attendance at South Georgia College (SGC). At SGC I was a tutor for Student Support Services and was responsible for providing academic tutoring to my peers in various academic subjects. After graduating from SGC, I continued to provide tutoring services with the Sylvan Learning Center and the America Reads program at the University of Georgia. When I worked in Korea as an English teacher I tried to teach my students on as much of an individual basis as possible given the classroom settings I was working in. I would try to guide the students toward the correct answers whenever possible so as to let them discover the information on their own rather that have it told to them. This gives the students a feeling of accomplishment which helps them to maintain an interest in the subject and learn more naturally. I also believe that when student are doing well they should be rewarded with positive feedback from the teacher, and that the teacher should maintain a patient and positive attitude with all students.
