I am very aware that everyone learns at different levels and in different ways. I am observant and mindful of this in teaching. I have worked with children with special needs for many years. Also, teaching ESL has helped me become a strong teacher because it has made me excellent with non verbal communication. It is important to have a stimulating environment for students. I want my students to want to come to my classroom and become involved in the lessons. I believe in balance. I think it is important to have fun but also be productive. I have a Bachelors degree in PSychology and a Masters degree in Social Work specializing in working with children/families. I have 13 years of experience working with children in the educational and home setting helping to mentor them by providing them with the tools necessary to be academically successful. I have not only counseled students in school but have assisted them in staying on tasks and completing assignments; as well as tutoring in reading, math, spelling, language arts, test taking, etc.

A Little Bit About Me...

My first tutoring experience occurred during my attendance at South Georgia College (SGC). At SGC I was a tutor for Student Support Services and was responsible for providing academic tutoring to my peers in various academic subjects. After graduating from SGC, I continued to provide tutoring services with the Sylvan Learning Center and the America Reads program at the University of Georgia. Under the provisions outlined by these programs, I provided academic tutoring in reading and mathematics to students in elementary, middle, and high school.
