I believe the first step is to always ascertain where a student is in their comprehension of the subject and what their propensity is to learn (i.e. quick learner, learns by examples etc.). That gives me an idea of how fast/slow to go and how best to get to cement actual learning. Generally, I like to get the student to arrive at answers by asking pointed questions so that their minds can understand the process versus simply memorizing the answers. My undergrad program had a concentration in Maths. My passion for math drove me to finish all my requirements with faculty honors. My biggest joy is when a math challenge bends to no classmate and that after a short while it clicks in: Eureka! I have experience tutoring Math in both French and English for the past four years.
