I have recently graduated from UNLV with a BA in fine art with minors in art history and criminal justice. I have taken classes in education and am pursuing a master's degree in art history so I can teach on the college level. I have taught and tutored many individuals in art, English, and math. I was on the math team in high school and have gone to nationals for Science Olympiad so I can also tutor in the science related subjects. I volunteered at Arbor View High School art department in Las Vegas which helped me to gain a greater base on how to help students.

A Little Bit About Me...

I think patience and coaching are the most important tools in tutoring. Based on my experience, a rule or lesson is better retained if the student is vested in the answer by their own efforts. That being said, I like to give the tool, the hint, or the rule before I ever just give an answer: that way the student has an opportunity to learn the rule or remember the process for themselves while they figure out the answer. I would never, however, let a student stew in frustration if they could not come up with an answer on their own as that only puts up blockers and hinders learning.
While in law school, I assisted students enrolled in a summer program with residential advising and subject mentoring/tutoring. I am waiting to receive my BS diploma, after completing a course of study in Digital Media, which also included tutoring students, note taking for special needs students, and student advocate programs developed to promote student enrollment in local universities. Writing technical thesis', tutorials for sales instruction, and advertising scripts comprise a portion of my experience. I have been a project manager for a remote, digital educational program developed for Utah Valley University.
