I was more of an instructor than a teacher. I was a day camp counselor at Solway House parent/child resort in Saugerties N.Y. I instructed kids how to swim, dive, play various sports and gave dancing lessons to the guests. As a high school student I tutored 7th and 8th graders in an after school community center. I was one of a few staff at the University of Connecticut to instruct graduates and staff in the use of the various electronic facilites available to them.

I always knew I wanted to work with children, and have taken various jobs in the educational field. I worked in a daycare center during college. I have also been a substitute teacher and worked a in summer school program for children with autism. I have a B.A. in psychology with a minor in sociology from UConn. I am presently persuing my M.A. in school counseling, and will be completing a full-time internship in a high school counseling department during the 2010-2011 school year. I believe that being a coach, and mentor is the best way to teach children. I think that "hands on" training, or "on the job" training is the best way to learn. This is mostly true throughout our entire lives. Providing guidance, and answering questions rather than doing the work for them.

Education is fundamental for our youth as they are the foundation of the future. Teaching is a passion for me because it is adventurous. I believe that every lesson must be creative and interesting.
