As a non-traditional student, I was able to gain a unique educational experience. I started off earning multiple degrees at a community college, then transferred to Temple to study Actuarial Science. The training I received while preparing for actuarial exams taught me how to think about and solve problems so thoroughly that I was able to teach any subject I learned. I have learned through my experience that many people have a "math-phobia" This is usually onset by a teacher or incident from their past. My main objective when working with people in math is to break down those fears. When this happens, without fail, the doors begin to open and learning becomes much easier for the learner.
