I believe in completing an individual needs assessment and designing a study approach around that assessment. I believe in constant reinforcement and reassessment. I also believe it is useful to utilize as many and as varied forms of instruction as possible (written, audio-visual, demonstration, etc.) to solidify a concept. Promoting thorough understanding rather than route memory and recognition skills is paramount.

A Little Bit About Me...

Through my extensive coursework and research and practical application in the classroom, I found quite quickly that there are several different learning styles. It is important to create lessons that they are approachable for visual learners, auditory learners, kinesthetic learners and so forth. It is vital to get to know your students from the start and to see how they learn and operate best, hence making instruction to overall fit their needs making them perform better academically. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching experience began in high school, when I would review and edit my classmates essays. On several occasions, I also went through essays line by line. In addition, I taught swim lessons to preschool aged children, and helped coach crew to high school aged students. Throughout college, I continued to aid my peers with their essays, and often participated in workshops outside of class. As a writer, I have extensively studied methods of teaching to English Language Learners, and native speakers alike. I have also conducted research in rhetoric studies and language acquisition. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching, in general, has always been a passion of mine. I received my BA in Elementary Education in May of 2007. My internship experience was teaching Language Arts in a middle school in Chicago, IL. Upon moving to Fernandina Beach, I became a teacher for Catapult Learning in Jacksonville. During this time, I provided supplemental Reading/Math instruction to students in the first through sixth grades whose test scores were below grade level. I have also provided a six week tutoring service for the FCAT at Yulee Elementary.
