Helping children work through learning issues is my passion.

When working from my office, I like to use hands on activities that keep children engaged. However, since working online I use many different websites and materials that allow children to be actively engaged. I use Orton Gilligham and Wilson reading programs as well as my own materials. Helping children with learning issues is something I am very passionate about. Building self confidence is key to growing and learning.
I have 22 years experience teaching public education k-6. I began my career as a special education teacher and then moved into regular education classrooms. Special Needs Tutor: Specialties: Patience and experience

I am open as to how I instruct a child. Since my field of teaching has been that of Special Education, my students have always been allowed to develop their own learning style that is best for them. My paid professional teaching experince includes one year working as a Special Education Paraprofessional for 2-4 grade stundents classified with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders. My undergraduate degree from Valdosta State University was in music education.
While some teachers favor a direct instruction approach, I try to tailor my instruction to the growing and diverse needs of each student. Some are more auditory learners than others, therefore, for those you would need a lot of teaching by rote, i.e "do as I do", so to speak.
