I have been employed at Stanly Community College for almost 20 years in the Media Services Department. I have also served as an adjunct faculty member since 2011. Classes I've taught include MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Word, Intro to Computers, and College Student Success. I own a part-time business, Mark Sample Multimedia Enterprises, which specializes in video production. The way I teach depends on the needs of the student. I personally learn by being show and then doing something while someone stands there to make sure I do it correctly until I can do it on my own. I can use visual strategies, repetition, games, songs, rhymes, whatever it takes to make sure I am clear and understood. I was always a slow learner when it came to certain subjects so I understand the frustration a child, or student can experience when a teacher is impatient or they just cant seem to get it right no matter what.
