My experience, specifically within the past two years, has been extensive. During this time spent at Webster University I was hired by the Student Literacy Corps, a non-profit organization funded by the university for the purpose of educating students in the St. Louis Public School District in English and writing. I like teaching students by explaining the material in a way I think is easiest to understand. I always emphasize how the material relates to what students already knows and how they can use what they know to solve problems. Often students cannot see how what they are learning can ever be useful in real life situations so I also try to give examples of when they might use what we are covering. Most importantly I am still a student myself I find I always learn better with examples so I always try to work through plenty of examples.

A Little Bit About Me...

For some children, some subjects are hard to understand. Children can get frustrated just by not being able to understand the subject matter. My approach is to alleviate that frustration by going through the steps slowly and demonstrating these steps several times. In addition, I allow students to go through the steps on their own with my assistance so that I can catch any mistakes that they make. I am patient, and I find creative ways for children to learn. Throughout my college years, I was involved in coaching high school aged students in baseball as well as younger kids in a baseball camp.
