I'm PhD physicist with more than 20 years of tutoring experience at all possible levels and with variety of students ranging from gifted kids of elementary school to PhD students of Wash Uni as well as active tutors themselves.<><><><> I'm really patient (even with my own kids!) and start with putting myself in my student's shoes. Wal-Mart Produce Manager Front-line hourly supervisor, majority of the work evolved customer service, planning administration work for upcoming events, keeping in stock merchandise, delegating daily operation tasks, managing associate performances, accurate in stock, meeting sales forecast, meeting a certain profit margin, working with outside suppliers, and controlling expenses within the department.
There are many arrays of learning styles. I personally use visually, writing, and seeing the bigger picture. First, the mind can develop a concept or help map out the ideas by seeing the picture to the learning task. Second writing helps to reinforce the concept or idea. Lastly seeing the bigger picture helps to encompass their own ideas as well as the originator ideas.

I like teaching students by explaining the material in a way I think is easiest to understand. I always emphasize how the material relates to what students already knows and how they can use what they know to solve problems. Often students cannot see how what they are learning can ever be useful in real life situations so I also try to give examples of when they might use what we are covering. Most importantly I am still a student myself I find I always learn better with examples so I always try to work through plenty of examples.
I am currently a graduate student at the University of Missouri. I am working on dual masters in economics and statistics and just finished year one of two. For some children, some subjects are hard to understand. Children can get frustrated just by not being able to understand the subject matter. My approach is to alleviate that frustration by going through the steps slowly and demonstrating these steps several times. In addition, I allow students to go through the steps on their own with my assistance so that I can catch any mistakes that they make. I am patient, and I find creative ways for children to learn. For example, I might relate a math concept to some aspect in everyday life. I utilize tools that I learned in school that helped me learn things easier.
