Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I have had 5 years experience using Sign language in various settings including jobs and volunteer services such as: -Job Coach. -Interpreter. -Language Facilitator. -Teacher. -Tutor.

Since 2010 I have been involved with various jobs teaching, interpreting and using American Sign Language. I began an Interpreter Training Program at Nashville State Community College. After the first year of the program, I decided to move to a location where many Deaf people were and immersed myself in the language. I got a job as a job coach specifically working with Deaf and hard of hearing individuals. I also began volunteering as an interpreter at a local church. I later had oppertunities teaching sign language and also tutering some college students taking ASL courses. A Little Bit About Me...

As a college graduate I have been driven to do my best to make sure every child is given the opportunity to have the very best education. I have earned my Bachelor degree in early childhood but do not hold a teacher's certificate. I have had extensitve training in edcuation courses, and love helping children read. I have been a part of a S.M.A.R.T (Start Making A Reader Today)program and have done some teaching to my boyfriend's niece who is now reading and writing. A Little Bit About Me...

I completed all of my field work in school 2006-2008 and completed my student teaching in 2009. During this time, I planned and taught lessons in all subjects to grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. Along with teaching lessons, I also tracked students progress, and worked with students one on one to help struggling students succeed. I have worked as a tutor/ instructor at Sylvan Learning Center for the past year now. Here, I instruct students from grades Kindergarten to middle school in both Reading and Math. I teach both "Beginning Reading" and "Academic "Reading" and teach math from the 1st grade level up to pre-algebra and geometry.

I enjoy working with children, waiting for the "ah ha" moment to arrive. When it does, there is nothing, like it. I believe strongly in the saying "there are no bad students, only bad teachers". I believe that every student is capable of learning, the trick is to find a way that makes it real and applicable to each individual student. I believe that the keys to success are student motivation, the tutor's flexibility and lots of patience. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always believed that each child is truly unique. I However do not believe that all education and forms of it, should be uniform. Working with children with special needs has allowed me to be able to get to know the student and adjust the curriculum so that the child will be able to benefit the most from!
As a communication disorders major I have acquired an understand and love for working with children. During my internship I was able to work one-on-one with children who have language disabilities. It was through this internship that I learned what a reward it can be to help others, and to see them flourish intellectually.
