I have participated in many study groups where I actively contribute information on the topic of interest; there we help each other and teach each other. Also, I'm the oldest sibling of four, I have had many years of helping out with homework and tutoring in reading, writing and math. My education consisted of diverse studies and I learned a great deal of mathematics and sciences. Also, naturally I use proper grammar and have a good hand for writing. I am a very creative person and can come up with unique topics. I'm also very artsy and appreciate a good hands on experiment.

I am very hands on teaching style. I make sure I cater to each of my students individually. I offer my students the encouragement and respect they deserve and treat them with kindness. I adjust for visual, hearing, and hands-on learners. I put a lot of pride in my work and I am not satisfied until the student has a firm grip of the subject matter.

My comments on tutoring Physics : Took both college-level, calculus-based, general physics courses. Topics: Newton's laws, angular motion, kinematics, inertia, momentum, electrical, magnetic, and basic concepts involving circuit boards.

Asking students about problem areas so I can make a quiz to see what fundamentals are missing. Can help with homework and test preparation too.
Tutored on TutorSelect.come before a few years back and successfully tutored over ten individual students as well as a couple of group sessions with in between 2 and 4 students. All the students I tutored were either in high school or college. My topic I predominately tutor and that I most enjoy tutoring is mathematics. I've taken Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus, all three college Calculus courses, and Differential Equations. I also took both college-level General Chemistry courses and both calculus-based Physics courses. I also was responsible in most of my classes for developing a weekly schedule for tutoring/studying course topics with fellow classmates and friends. I enjoy any math based or related science topics, enjoy problem solv ... read more

Professional Exam Prep and Subject Tutoring

During my time as Head Tutor at UNCA, regardless of department, I tutored over 200 students in mathematics and physics. Of those students, at least 80% saw an increase of at least one letter grade and at least 20% saw an increase by two letter grades. Many students I tutored in one subject came back to be for tutoring in the other. For many of my students I served as an invaluable mentor who guided them from their earliest days as a college freshman to the day the walked across the stage and earned their degree. Over the past five years, I have helped more than 100 students gain admission to their dream colleges and have averaged a score increase of approximately 260 points for the SAT and 6.5 points for the ACT. I have personally played a role in the lives of students who have earned admission into such institutions as Stanford, Duke, UVA, Cal Tech, Georgia Tech, UNC, and UPenn. ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I love to teach, it is my passion in life. Every student has intelligence and every student is a genius in one subject or another in school. Any and all students can learn you just have to apply the material to them that fits their particular interests. I try to stay up to date on all the new trends and fads that kids are into in order to stay fresh and up to date with them and apply all my knowledge in science and in other subjects to fit them specifically. I have no one set way to teach any level of student because each person and group dynamic is much different than the next. I try to adapt all my lessons to fit all the learning styles (visual, auditory, hands-on, etc). I have plenty of experience teaching special needs students so I adapt my lesson plans to fit their particular learning styles as well. I try to be an educator rather than a teacher because students will remembe ... read more

Teaching is my passion. I love to teach, instruct or lecture and tutor students regardles of age, race, intellectual abilities and sex. I strongly believe in teaching in a way to make a positive change in the life of my students. I do not only teach, but also let my students see the relevance of what's being taught to life and towards their career in the future. I explain the topics in a simple and understandable way. I always try to relate the topic to some common day to day activities for a better understanding and rememberance. I demonstrate, describe and explain the topics to the students. I ask questions on what I taught and also allow my students to ask questions. At the end of the class, my students are always left with a better mental understanding of any topic disscussed during the class session.

A Little Bit About Me...

I would be glad to work with students of all ages, but I prefer to work with a student individually rather than work with students in a group. From both my experience of being an informal tutor and being tutored, I find that students general prefer this style of tutoring because the tutor can both focus and better access their student's strengths and weaknesses in the particular academic subject they are having difficulty with.
I have informally tutored people of various age ranges in the subjects, physics and math , for a period that ranges over about three years . I have taught younger relatives as well as helped people informally on online tutoring message boards with math and physics problems. I have also been paid to assist students in how to operate the basic commands of computational mathematical software for three years as well.

A Little Bit About Me...

My experience is primarily in the field of Structural engineering and mechanics, which involve physics and mathematics heavily. I have spent six years at North Carolina State University studying engineering which involved advanced mathematic concepts while earning a bachelors and masters degree. I have a year and a half of experience in the field of structural engineering in consulting which has allowed me to increase my skills in engineering as well as general mathematics. Earlier in this year I began official tutoring and teaching of 7th grade students in math at my church’s school as a volunteer. I have found it very rewarding and it is a path I would like to continue on. And while I do not have a lot of official teaching and tutoring experience, I have done it informally for many years and find much enjoyment in it. It is very rewarding to pass on the knowledge you have to othe ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from UNCW with a degree in Chemistry. I graduated with Magna Cum Laude distinction (GPA 3.804). I also, have extensive research experience. I knew that doing independent chemical research would allow me to gain knowledge that can't be taught in the classroom. I have experience tutoring both high school and college students in chemistry and mathematics. Along with my scientific credentials, I have also been very successful in learning and teaching Spanish. I took Spanish all through high school and 2 years in college. In college I tutored fellow classmates as well as other students in this particular language.
I love teaching and interacting with people. I gain great satisfaction from being able to help someone else understand something that they are unable to grasp on their own. I believe that students use different ways to learn. Such as visual versus auditory ... read more

As a recent graduate from East Carolina University, I have obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Biology. Throughout the extensive coursework, I became an excellent source of information, whether it pertained to science, math, or English. I have written numerous laboratory reports, as well as many papers. I have helped other students in their quest for higher knowledge by giving them advice as well as helping them in what they are having trouble with. I have also helped proctor tests and I was a physical education pupil instructor for one semester, where I helped to engage them in physical activities. I help out in a special education class by volunteering my time whenever the need is available.

As a graduate student at DePual University I stated teaching phsics laboratories as teaching assistant. I have been tutoring physics on and off since I was in college. I have six years of teaching physics at Shaw University where I taught all levels of physics, physical science, and taught both semesters of physical chemistry. Developed new curricula including the design of conventional laboratory experiments as well as laboratory experiments that involve computers and calculators to collect and analyze data.
My main technique for teaching physics is what I call the WOW factor. It makes physics interning to students and relate to things in their lives. When tutoring physics students, I first find out what knows and is the student’s background. Then I help them with particular problems by asking them a series of smaller questions. Thus making the students understand how they can ... read more
