I have been teaching math since 1986. I have experience in all levels of high school math, including 7 years of teaching Advanced Placement College level classes. Currently I am teaching Geometry, trigonometry and AP Statistics at St Benedict High School in Cordova. I have degrees in Mathematical Sciences and Statistics. I am not currently teaching Algebra or Pre-Cal, but I have several times am very proficient in these subjects. I also offer ACT prep tutoring. Working one on one or in small groups always benefits the students more than the classroom enviroment.

During my experience as a tutor, I like dealing with the type of student who is willing to learn and put forth an effort. I like to show students how to solve the problem and then give them an opportunity to display what they have learned. Math is a difficult subject and it is important to learn the dynamics step by step. I would prefer to help the student who wants to learn and retain versus the crammer who wants to try to learn everything the night before a test. I would like to work with a student on a continuous basis so that I can see the progress being made and see how my tutoring has made a difference. I graduated from the University of Memphis in December 2005. During my time at the U of M, I tutored college level math courses. I took Calculus I, II, & III and did well in all three. Math is my passion and I aspire to share that passion by helping students through tutoring.

My teaching style can best be described as varied! I believe that children learn in numerous ways, so as an educator it is my responsibility to provide multiple experiences - visual, oral, tactile, etc. A person walking by my classroom would see children smiling, working in groups, accomplishing projects, and would hear noise. After graduating from Vanderbilt University I taught 5th grade for 2 years while working on my Master's at TSU. I then moved to the Knoxville area and taught K until my son was born in 2000.
